Specialists warn about an increase in burns during end-of-year celebrations in Argentina

Buenos Aires, December 24 (NA) – Inquiries for burns associated with the use of pyrotechnics, barbecues, and domestic accidents increase during end-of-year celebrations, and in the face of this scenario, specialists warn about the importance of prevention and early consultation to avoid complications. 'At this time of year, we see an increase in consultations for burns, which in many cases could be prevented. When they occur, it is key that they go to the emergency room of a specialized center to avoid complications,' explained Dr. Hernán Aguilar, deputy head of the Plastic Surgery Service at the Italian Hospital. In a report accessed by the Argentine News Agency (NA), it was indicated that in the case of a mild burn, Dr. Aguilar recommends: Wash the area with plenty of fresh, room-temperature water once the burn is out. Do not apply ice, creams, butter, or toothpaste, as these products can aggravate the injury. Do not remove clothing or accessories adhered to the skin. Do not pop blisters at home because it causes pain and can worsen the injury. Always go to a medical emergency room for a proper evaluation. Meanwhile, it was reported that patients with acute burns must initially go to an emergency room to have an evaluation and immediate treatment performed.
